Introduction & Philosophy

InternshipUncle Autoapply is a local-first Chrome extension designed to help you organize and automate your job applications. Unlike typical automation platforms that scrape and centralize applicant profiles, we operate on a core security belief: your private data should reside on your machine. This policy details exactly how we manage, protect, and handle data when you use the extension.

Local Storage & Local-First Design

By default, InternshipUncle Autoapply runs entirely offline. All data used to autofill job applications is stored locally on your browser:

  • Profile Details: Your name, email, phone number, educational background, and work histories are saved locally using chrome.storage.local.
  • Documents: Uploaded resumes and cover letters are converted and kept in your browser's private database (IndexedDB).
  • Form Memories: The custom questions and answers you save to teach the copilot how to autofill specific portals are stored locally.

Because of this design, no central database stores your profile fields or credentials by default. If you uninstall the extension, all locally held data is cleared immediately.

Optional Authentication & Account Sync

To unlock advanced features, subscription updates, or to sync profiles across multiple devices, you may choose to log in.

  • Google Sign-In: When signing in via Google, we receive and securely store basic account fields (such as your User ID, email address, and name) in our Supabase database.
  • Subscription Info: We associate your account with your subscription status (Free/Pro tiers) to unlock appropriate usage rights.
  • Secure Transfer: All cloud communication is carried out over encrypted HTTPS protocols, ensuring your basic user profile is shielded during transit.

Optional Analytics & Application Tracking

If you are authenticated and opt into performance dashboard tracking, InternshipUncle Autoapply logs high-level structural submission data to build your application history:

  • Logged Fields: Job application URLs, company names, job titles, and timestamps of submission.
  • Purpose: This log helps you review your daily goals, track auto-applied jobs, and manage follow-ups.
  • Non-Logged Fields: We never log your actual form answers, passwords, secret values, or resume text contents to these trackers.

Strict Security & Zero-Use Commitments

We hold our extension to the highest level of trust. We abide by three strict "never" policies regarding user information:

We never sell, rent, or lease your data Your profile data and application files are strictly yours. They are never shared with recruiters, advertising platforms, or data brokers.

We never parse documents for secondary purposes Resumes and templates are only analyzed locally on your device to feed the autofill logic. No backend systems parse them to build shadow profiles.

We never use details to check creditworthiness We do not use your information for evaluating lending capacity, credit scores, background checks, or any non-job application purposes.

Your Control: Export & Permanent Deletion

You retain complete ownership over the lifecycle of your data:

  • Export Profiles: You can export your saved profile attributes and form configurations as a standard JSON file at any time.
  • Local Purge: You can clear your local database in the Extension Settings with a single click.
  • Cloud Erasure: If you created an account, you can trigger permanent deletion of your cloud record and associated analytics logs instantly from your dashboard profile settings, or by visiting our Account Deletion Page.
